different – probably because I was out of 10Ks. These are all 5% standard resistors. Running 220 on the LED, because of the LED I’m using. Unclear in video what power supply I used, but when dusting this off in Dec 2020, I used a 5v @ 1amp USB Charger – which read ~5.2v without load.

The Proximity Sensor is just a wire here, and the type of wire, amount of insulation, length, affects all kinds of stuff.

Facebook Health Update Posts – Linux.

I’m finally taking the plunge, and slowly moving my 3 macs from 10.14 to 10.15. One issue was the ScanSnap S1500M. I search hi and low, read reviews and software support and bought the ScanSnap S1500M used on Amazon of $99 in January 2019. Unfortunately, I didn’t realized Fujitsu would be so lame as to end support. Yes, VueScan and ExactScan both support this scanner, and work well, but this is well over $100 of software for a $99 scanner.

Xen XCP-NG 8 PXELINUX CFG for Supermicro X9 SOL Serial In some minor miracle, insurance has approved all this within two days. I’ve had to wait till today, May 2nd for my first dose … which I got this morning. A nice part of this is that it is a self injectable, can be at room temperature for up to two weeks. It was also completely painless, I didn’t even feel the needle. Will see in two weeks when I need to do it myself, as this time was done with the nurse for as a “training” session. I’ve had some mild relief since, but might take longer for the full effectiveness.

Yet Another WordPress single install with multisite, Multitenancy configuration

OK. Yes, here we are again. The convenient evil of WordPress. I have multiple domains, and need multiple sites, that are pretty light on content. I run FreeBSD as the OS and have been doing system administration and large scale operations for a long time. In the past (early 2000’s) I had my own colo-ed servers, ran my own email, etc. I have since moved email to G-apps/G-suites and had my web sites hosted with the web hosting at my domain registrar. However, that site was raising prices, so I moved to a more basic registrar, and bought a t2.small reserve instance on AWS/EC2 – which was cheaper than the yearly subscription the shared web host offered at the registrar. Now, getting it to run with just a single installation of WordPress.

SysAdmin Notes: Enabling SSL Cluster replication – Let’s Encrypt – FreeBSD, MariaDB 10.2, and Galera Cluster

From acme.sh, you’ll get :
ca.cer
db2.cer
db2.conf
db2.csr
db2.csr.conf
db2.key
fullchain.cer
FreeBSD layout – copy these to /etc/ssl (well, where you want).

concatenate the ca.cer with symlink of cert.pem from the package “security/ca_root_nss”.
sudo sh -c 'cat ca.cer cert.pem > cert2.pem'
Galera Cluster doesn’t like chained certificates, and does both a client and server Certificate verification – so wsrep_provider_options look like this :

SysAdmin Notes: FreeBSD, MariaDB 10.2, and Galera Cluster

Intro

Installing and getting MariaDB 10.2, and Galera Cluster going on FreeBSD (from ports/packages) was not straight forward. I was plagued with mysterious pain in all different places, which I originally credited to soreness from snowboarding. It took months to correctly identify and determine what the best treatment was for me. Finally, I was prescribed REMICADE® (infliximab), and have been getting this every 7-8 weeks for 6 years. REMICADE is giving via intravenous infusion. ( I will refer to this as my “infusion” or “treatment”. ) During this time I was continuously employed and had been treated by the same medical group on various HMO/PPO plans and insurers from at least three different employers. Except for a small HMO vs PPO billing confusion (which took a year to resolve), all these insurance policies covered the same medical group for six years. This treatment has worked extremely well. Each infusion costs about $6,000-10,000 and I believe the cost of the drug has doubled in the past 6 years. (As well as the drug fluctuates in cost monthly.)

A Derby Photographer Notes

(Updated May 16, 2017)

I became an accidental derby photographer starting, I think November 8, 2013 – shortly after the Peninsula Roller Girls followed me on Twitter. You are NOT using ObamaCare (except for things like children being able to stay on your plan till 26, covering preexisting conditions, free birth control and other zero cost preventive care).
